First, the two eyelets do not both channel light to the altar. Instead, one channels light to a peak that rises near the altar. Second, I don't know how they'd be sure the 40 year old photograph they have is of the original state of the now-broken eyelet, rather than simply a picture of the extant eyelet. I would be more impressed if they'd quoted locals rather than referring to "living witnesses" who go unnamed. Finally, I'm not sure that calling them both 'bell towers' suggests an archaeoastronomical function.ryannoreply@blogger.com
